Some peoples kids...
Mayberry said the whole thing was simply a big accident. She said the jeep was parked on an incline and when the boy got inside and was playing around, he knocked the manual transmission into neutral, causing the vehicle to coast down the road and into a home.
1. The cop already warned you about letting your toddler play in a parked car unsupervised.
2. 1st gear is not a brake, especially if your street parked on a hill, use the damned parking brake (it is actually a law in most states, even for automatics).
3. This woman should not be allowed to have / supervise children, she is clearly terrible at it and VERY lucky nothing bad happened to the child.

likely the jeep didn't have emergency/ parking brake hooked up.
After a lift kit increases suspension the cable isn't long enough to do its job & have the right amount of slack to stay out of the way. So they just remove it.
I did, but it is an automatic, and swapped axles a few times. I intend to hook it back up, now that there's a 9" in the rear, but it hasn't moved in a while.

Well then even more reason to not let your 3 year old play unsupervised in your street parked Jeep.
